Emma Navarro v Donna Vekic Head to Head
Navarro and Vekic have faced off once before this and that 2023 Monterrey Open match was won by Vekic.
Navarro in a Comeback Win over Cirstea
Emma Navarro was a quarterfinalist at this tournament and at a point in her second round match against Sorana Cirstea this year, it looked like she would be knocked before even getting to the second week.
Fortunately for Navarro, she managed to find another gear to her game and came back from a set down to win a scrappy encounter in a final set tie-breaker.
In a match that went on for almost two and a half hours, Navarro overcame Cirstea 3-6, 6-1, 7-6 (3).
Interestingly, Navarro was broken four times from the 10 opportunities she gave Cirstea but even more clinically so, she had five chances to get the better of her opponent’s serve and converted every single time.
With this win, Navarro has now won five in a row having earlier also made the Australian Open quarterfinals.

Vekic Halts Losing Streak
When Donna Vekic entered the fourth round at the Australian Open in the third week of January, little would she have known that her next win on the tour would come straightaway in the second week of March.
That’s exactly what happened as Vekic lost four in a row before finally clinching a victory in the second round of the Indian Wells Open. This was after the seeded Vekic had earned a first round bye.
Vekic was a 13/10 underdog entering this encounter against Elina Avanesyan but played like it was her day, eventually winning 6-3, 6-3. She was on court for an hour and 22 minutes.
It will now need to be seen if Vekic can not only dish out a similar performance against a top 10 player but also come up with a way to win the big moments in the match.
Navarro v Vekic Predictions
Vekic has beaten top-10 opponents in the past with her last such win having come against Cori Gauff last year at the Paris Olympics. Just a few months before that she had overcome Aryna Sabalenka too. Which is why we think she could cause some trouble for Navarro and win a set.
