Daniil Medvedev v Tommy Paul Head to Head
There have been four previous meetings between these two players with Medvedev leading 3-1.
He had won at the 2021 French Open, 2023 China Open and 2024 Indian Wells Masters while Paul came away a winner at the 2024 Italian Open.
Medvedev Benefits from Michelsen’s Retirements
Alex Michelsen did not survive for even 10 minutes before retiring from his third round match against Daniil Medvedev due to, what was later revealed to be food poisoning.
Medvedev, who had a first round bye and coasted to a 6-2, 6-2 win over Bu Yunchaokete in the second round, will now hope to shrug off his ordinary form all season as he looks to win his third match in a row for the first time this season.
After starting off with successive second round defeats at the Australian Open and Rotterdam Open, Medvedev then went on to win a couple of rounds at each of the following three tournaments – Marseille, Doha and Dubai.
Unfortunately for Medvedev, he couldn’t go beyond as he suffered defeats to Hamad Medjedovic, Tallon Griekspoor and a fitness concern against Felix Auger-Aliassime.
Can he now make it three wins in a row?

Paul Makes it Past Norrie
In what was described as a “super weird match” by Tommy Paul himself, fans saw nine breaks of serves before the American came through against Cameron Norrie.
Paul defeated Norrie 6-3, 7-5 to enter the fourth round for the third year running.
A one-time Indian Wells Masters winner Norrie lost his serve three times in the first set and then three more times in the second.
The American had a chance to grab the win even quicker than when he did but was broken in the eight game of the second set. Norrie handed over the match though when he served a double-fault on match-point.
This follows Paul’s 6-3, 6-1 win over Tristan Boyer in the second round.
Medvedev v Paul Predictions
Medvedev holds the edge but only a slight one given his current form. What might help him is that while the slower surface would have played in the hands of most other opponents, Paul himself prefers the quickness of courts which nullifies any disadvantage that Medvedev might face.
Medvedev v Paul Tips
- Medvedev to win: 3/4
