Alex de Minaur v Francisco Cerundolo Head to Head
They had never faced off before they met at the Australian Open earlier this year. De Minaur had won that encounter in four, hard-fought sets.
de Minaur Routs Hurkacz
Such has been Alex de Minaur’s form, it’s not the easiest to face him unless you are a Jannik Sinner or a Carlos Alcaraz. That’s what most opponents have found out this season and Hubert Hurkacz was the latest one of them to face the brunt.
In a third round match that went on for an hour and 14 minutes, de Minaur did not have too many worries as he clinched a 6-4, 6-0 victory.
He broke Hurkacz once in the first set – in the seventh game – while he himself did not face a break-point till the 10th game when he was serving for the set.
The second set proved to be even more one-sided as de Minaur broke Hurkacz three times without facing a single break-point to round off the win.
That gives de Minaur a 15-4 record for the season after having beaten David Goffin 6-2, 6-2 in the previous round.

Cerundolo Ends van de Zandschulp’s Run
Botic van de Zandschulp had overcome Nick Kyrgios albeit thanks to a retirement in the first round. And he then caused the upset of the tournament when he defeated Novak Djokovic in the second round.
However, against Francisco Cerundolo, van de Zandschulp was left without any steam as he fell to a 6-3, 6-4 defeat at the hands of the Argentine.
Cerundolo, who had gone into the encounter as an 8/11 favourite, got the better of his opponent’s serve on three occasions to grab a win. It was his 12th of the season to go with five defeats.
Earlier, Cerundolo had a first round bye and was forced to come back from being a set down to edge past Mackenzie McDonald in the second round.

Alex de Minaur is in the kind of form that will make it hard for us to bet against him. We expect a Cerundolo fight but in the end, the Aussie should be able to come through in straight sets.
