Carlos Alcaraz v Grigor Dimitrov Head to Head
There have been five previous meetings between these two and Alcaraz leads 3-2.
Interestingly, Alcaraz had won their first three matches – at the 2022 Paris Masters, 2023 Madrid Masters and Queen’s – while Dimitrov grabbed two victories recently, in Shanghai in 2023 and Miami in 2024.
No Problems for Alcaraz against Shapovalov
Carlos Alcaraz is looking to add a third title at the Indian Wells Masters and so far he has given every indication that it won’t be easy getting past him.
After having dispatched Quentin Halys in the second round with a 6-4, 6-2 scoreline, it was the turn of Denis Denis Shapovalov to be schooled by Alcaraz.
Alcaraz was on court for an hour and 24 minutes and clinched a 6-2, 6-4 win to march into the fourth round.
The Spaniard was broken once in the match but by then he had already taken a 5-0 lead in the first set. He served it out in the very next game before breaking Shapovalov once more in the second set to clinch a victory.

Dimitrov Gets His Fitness Tested by Monfils
Grigor Dimitrov had had injury issues coming into this tournament and if his second round win over Nuno Borges did not signal his return to fitness, his third round encounter against Gael Monfils should have definitely helped.
Dimitrov edged out Gael Monfils 7-6 (4), 4-6, 7-6 (2) in a match that went on for over three hours, another indicator of how well he has progressed with respect to his match fitness.
What was interesting to watch was that Dimitrov found it difficult to hold on to his serve, facing 11 break-points in the match and getting broken three times.
He got the better of Monfils’ serve twice but where he took control of the match was in the two tie-breakers. And that’s also where the match turned in favour of Dimitrov.
The Bulgarian will need to be a lot more clinical against Alcaraz though.
Alcaraz v Dimitrov Predictions
While Dimitrov is back from his fitness concerns, it’s one thing to be fully fit and quite another to take on a player like Alcaraz in this kind of form. We reckon this could be as easy for Alcaraz as things have been in the previous rounds.
