Carlos Alcaraz v Francisco Cerundolo Head to Head
Their only previous meeting at this level came at the 2024 Queen’s Club Championships and Alcaraz had won it in straight sets.
Alcaraz Routs Dimitrov
In what turned out to be an easy march towards his third successive title at this tournament Carlos Alcaraz crushed Grigor Dimitrov 6-1, 6-1 in the fourth round of the competition.
Having come into this encounter with the loss of a mere 12 games over his first two rounds, Alcaraz was at his athletic best as he finished off the match in a mere hour and 14 minutes.
Alcaraz faced just three break-points in the entire match and saved all of them while breaking Dimitrov five times from the 14 opportunities he got.
Interestingly, Alcaraz had come into the match having suffered two successive losses at the hands of Dimitrov but his manner of win here would have sent a notice to all his opponents about his ruthlessness.
Can Alcaraz now make it 16 wins in a row at the Indian Wells Masters?

Cerundolo Shocks de Minaur
Alex de Minaur hasn’t been easy to dislodge all season and he was a 1/4 favourite against his fourth round opponent Francisco Cerundolo.
Cerundolo, however, took advantage of the slower hardcourt conditions to clinch a straight-set win over his 10th-ranked opponent and make it to the quarterfinals of this event for the first time.
In fact his 7-5, 6-3 win in an hour and 51 minutes ensured that Indian Wells Open became only the second hardcourt Masters 1000 event where he had made the quarterfinals.
Earlier in the tournament, Cerundolo had overcome Mackenzie McDonald and Botic van de Zandschulp to set up this meeting with de Minaur who was 15-4 for the season.
Life could get a lot tougher for the Argentine come his quarterfinal encounter with Alcaraz.
