Medvedev in a Comeback Win Over Fils
Daniil Medvedev trailed Arthur Fils 2-4 in the final set after having lost his serve twice in a row and the match looked to be drifting away from the two-time Indian Wells Open finalist.
He broke back in the seventh game and in the following three service games lost just one point.
The Russian was still unable to break Fils and the match went into a deciding tie-breaker where again, it was difficult to separate the two players.
At no point in that tie-breaker did either player take a 2-point lead and Medvedev squandered two match-points before clinching it 9-7 to move into the semifinals.
Before this, Medvedev had already defeated Tommy Paul in straight sets but nothing compared to his joyous, over-the-top reaction after this one – a sign of how much it meant following a rather underwhelming season so far.
