All the men’s fourth round matches at the 2025 Miami Open will be played on Tuesday, March 25 as the likes of Casper Ruud, Novak Djokovic and Taylor Fritz take to court. Get the best predictions and tips for the day from ATP Miami Open 2025.
Casper Ruud v Francisco Cerundolo
This has been quite a rivalry with the two having faced off seven times in their careers so far and Francisco Cerundolo leading Casper Ruud 4-3. Four of these matches have come on clay where it’s 2-2 while Cerundolo leads 2-1 in hardcourt matches including one win at the Laver Cup last year.
Interestingly, they had played in the semifinals of the 2022 edition of this very tournament – also their first meeting – and Ruud had coasted to a straight-set win over Cerundolo then.
Since making that final, however, Ruud’s performances here have been slightly underwhelming as he was knocked out in the third round the following year and made the fourth round last year.
This time around too Ruud has entered the fourth round with a scrappy win over Miomir Kecmanovic and a hard-fought but straight-set victory against Alejandro Tabilo. This was just the second time that Ruud had won back to back in a singles competition this season following his Dallas Open finals appearance.
Cerundolo, on the other hand, has already shocked Tommy Paul in this tournament and is coming off a quarterfinal appearance at the Indian Wells Masters earlier this month. With a plethora of excellent clay court showings under his belt too in 2025, the Argentine’s confidence against a player he has beaten four times before this, will be sky-high.
Which is why, it won’t surprise us to see Cerundolo win this. Just like what the bookmakers also think.
Ruud v Cerundolo Tip: Cerundolo to win: 4/5
Novak Djokovic v Lorenzo Musetti
This is the kind of one-sided rivalry that Novak Djokovic needs entering into his fourth round match here given all that has transpired this season for him. The Serb leads Lorenzo Musetti 7-1 on head to head having won both their matches in hardcourt competitions as well, in Dubai and Dallas in 2022.
And why do we say that it’s the kind of results that Djokovic needs? His season, as we all know, has been a bit of a struggle for the former world number.
Djokovic had entered this year’s Miami Masters on the back of a three-match losing streak, something that he hadn’t experienced in eight years and even before that, he had failed to make the final at either the Brisbane International or the Australian Open.
Here, Djokovic has had some worries in the second set of both his matches but has come through in easy tie-breakers, defeating Rinky Hijikata and Camilo Ugo Carabelli.
Musetti had suffered a calf injury earlier this year, forcing him to retire from his quarterfinal at the Argentina Open and he took his time coming back in Indian Wells. There he was bundled out by Arthur Fils in the third round but has gone one better here.
After overcoming Quentin Halys in the second round in a result that went on expected lines, Musetti shocked Felix Auger-Aliassime to seal off his second successive fourth round appearance in Miami.
And with both these wins coming from a set down, Musetti has shown he can put up a fight against a player whose form looks to have been affected by his fitness issues.
Djokovic v Musetti Tip: Three sets in the match: 6/5
Taylor Fritz v Adam Walton
In what will be their first meeting, Taylor Fritz will face off against the 89th-ranked Adam Walton for a place in the quarterfinals.
Despite not having made it to even the semifinals of any of the singles event this year, Taylor Fritz has managed to maintain his top four ranking but he will know he needs to start going deeper into competitions.
A fourth round exit at the Indian Wells Masters and a third round ouster at the Australian Open are the kind of results that help when one is trying to break into the top 20 but not so much for someone looking to retain his place in the top five.
Here, Fritz has a good chance to enter the quarterfinals following his straight-set wins over Lorenzo Sonego and Denis Shapovalov as he takes on Australia’s lucky loser and a player who had won his maiden tour-level match only last year.
Walton had entered this tournament without a Grand Slam win and with just one ATP Masters 1000 main draw victory under his belt. Which is why a fourth round appearance here in Miami would be a huge uptick.
He did begin as a lucky loser who got a direct entry into the second round before overcoming Luciano Darderi and Coleman Wong, two players he was expected to defeat. Things could get a lot tougher here and we think he might be found out of his depth here.
Fritz v Walton Tip: Fritz to win in straight sets: 1/4
