Jessica Pegula v Emma Raducanu Head to Head
There have been two previous meetings between these two, with both players having won one apiece.
Pegula grabbed the 2022 Cincinnati Open match between them before Raducanu surprised her opponent in Eastbourne in 2024.
Pegula Blasts Past Kostyuk
A win-loss record of 18-5 for the season gives Jessica Pegula a solid record but drill down deeper into this and the American wouldn’t be very chuffed about her performances in the WTA 1000 and Grand Slam competitions.
She had been knocked out of the Australian Open in the third round and followed that up not more than two wins in any of the three WTA 1000 tournaments that followed in Doha, Dubai and Indian Wells.
Which is why, Pegula’s 6-2, 6-3 victory over Marta Kostyuk in the fourth round here would have given her a new-found confidence – it’s her third in a row in a WTA 1000 event in 2025.
Earlier, Pegula had defeated Bernarda Pera and Anna Kalinskaya, the second of those players needed her to go the full distance, and with this victory, the American will now have a good chance to emulate her best ever showing in this tournament.
Raducanu Stuns Anisimova
Emma Raducanu had won just two matches in the entire year before entering this tournament. Fast forward a week and Raducanu has added four more victories to her name and that’s not just down to an easy draw.
She had already defeated a top 10 player in Emma Navarro in the second round and in the fourth round match that Raducanu followed up with, the British player took down the WTA Doha winner Amanda Anisimova.
This is despite Anisimova starting out a 4/6 favourite in that encounter.
Raducanu did not give Anisimova much of a chance in that encounter, winning 6-1, 6-3 and advancing to the quarterfinal of a WTA 1000 event for the first time in her career.
That, for a player who has often been criticised for her constant change of coaches, would come as a huge relief. Can she now take down another top-10 player?
