The remaining second round matches at the 2025 Bucharest Open will kick-start on Thursday, April 3 with Damir Dzumhur, Nicolas Jarry & Pedro Martinez in Action in action. Get the best predictions and tips for the day from ATP Bucharest Open 2025.

Damir Dzumhur v Filip Cristian Jianu

Damir Dzumhur will enter this second round match against the 241st-ranked Filip Cristian Jianu with a lot of confidence.

For starters he has a 2-0 head to head record over Jianu with both of those wins having come on clay at the Challenger circuit. Secondly, as far as his most recent record goes, Dzumhur made the final of a Challenger tournament in Cap Cana before entering the semifinal on the clay courts of Zadar on the Challenger circuit.

Dzumhur then routed Valentin Vacherot 6-2, 6-1 in the first round here to set up this meeting against the local wildcard Jianu. Jianu himself shocked the 11/20 favourite Nishesh Basavareddy in the first round here which is a big win given that till last season he was competing on the Futures circuit.

In fact Jianu jumped up his rankings to the five titles he won on that tour but now up against Dzumhur, things can be expected to be a lot tougher.

Dzumhur v Jianu Tip: Dzumhur to win in straight sets: 1/1

Pedro Martinez v Stan Wawrinka

World number 47 Pedro Martinez will be up against the former Grand Slam winner and 161st-ranked Stan Wawrinka for a place in the quarterfinal. The only time they faced off at this level before this was in Acapulco and Wawrinka had won that 2020 encounter in straight sets.

What must be quickly added here is that last year they met again on the Challenger circuit and this time around, Martinez had eased past Wawrinka on clay.

Wawrinka had gone into his opener against Timofey Skatov as a heavy favourite here but almost crashed out. It needed him to navigate through some treacherous situations before he clinched the third set tie-breaker 7-1.

Martinez is coming off a first round bye but earlier this year had participated in the three South American clay court competitions. While he made the semifinals at the Buenos Aires Open, Martinez was knocked out in his openers at both Rio and Santiago, making it a bit of a strange one.

We would still have to back Martinez here given Wawrinka’s obvious struggles that have left him outside the top 150 on the rankings.

Martinez v Wawrinka Tip: Martinez to win a set: 10/11

Nicolas Jarry v Christopher O’Connell

58th-ranked Nicolas Jarry starts off as the second favourite against the 87th-ranked Christopher O’Connell despite having won three ATP titles on clay in his career. And a lot of that is to do with the fact that Jarry had had a poor season in 2025 before he injured his foot and opted not to play at either Indian Wells or Miami.

On the other hand, Christopher O’Connell featured in his first clay court match of the season in this tournament when he took on Dusan Lajovic in his opener. He was a 7/5 underdog entering the encounter and ended up crushing Lajovic 6-4, 6-3 to enter round two.

With Jarry being an unknown quantity as he returns from his fitness concerns and O’Connell showing he is no mug when it comes to clay, things could get very tight. Backing the Aussie to come away with a win here.

Jarry v O’Connell Tip: O’Connell to win: 8/11
