The WTA Charleston Open 2025 continues on Friday, April 4 with its quarterfinals to be played today. Amanda Anisimova, Qinwen Zheng and Anna Kalinskaya will be some of those in action and you can get the best predictions and tips for the day from Charleston Open 2025 below.
Amanda Anisimova v Emma Navarro
In an all-American battle, the 11th-ranked Emma Navarro will look to make it to a rare semifinal on clay when she takes on the world number 18 Amanda Anisimova.
Both players had earned first round byes but while Anisimova hasn’t faced too many difficulties after that, Navarro was stretched to three sets by fellow American Ashlyn Krueger in her third round win.
Having won the Merida Open title earlier, Navarro had then proceeded to win just one match in all at the Sunshine Masters tournaments. Her back to back victories make it just the third instance of Navarro having done that this year having featured in nine tournaments.
Anisimova looks to have brought her hardcourt form on to clay. A winner in Doha and having made the fourth round at the Miami Open, she is now a win away from emulating her best ever performance at the Charleston Open which had come in 2022.
She was a 6-2, 6-2 winner over Veronika Kudermetova before carving out a 6-4, 6-4 win against Yulia Putintseva and will hold a slight edge coming into this.
Anisimova v Navarro Tip: Anisimova to win: 9/11
Qinwen Zheng v Ekaterina Alexandrova
While the world number eight Qinwen Zheng will start off a whopping 9/25 favourite against the 26th-ranked Ekaterina Alexandrova, things might not remain as easy as that for the Chinese number one.
Zheng had earlier past Maria Sakkari in her second round match but was taken to three sets by Elise Mertens. And she is now up against a player who has a 2-0 win-loss record against her, with both of those wins have come on clay.
Alexandrova makes a strong case for herself with how she has performed in this tournament so far too. She dropped three games in her second round win over Ann Li but more stunningly, came away a 6-2, 6-1 winner over Diana Shnaider, a player who was 4/6 to clinch that encounter.
We believe there’s a lot of value in an Alexandrova victory here (21/10) but for a safer punt one could look at a set handicap as well.
Zheng v Alexandrova Tip: Alexandrova to win a set – Yes: 10/11
Anna Kalinskaya v Sofia Kenin
Anna Kalinskaya gave glimpses of what she is capable of when fully fit as she romped to a 6-2, 6-4 win over Madison Keys to move to the quarterfinals. This was after she had won her second round match against Caty McNally in a similar manner too.
Ranked 11th in the world very recently, Kalinskaya’s injury issues had resulted in retirements and withdrawals from tournaments and that had hurt her form too. As a result her ranking has fallen to 33rd.
These two victories, however, should give her a lot of confidence as she takes on the in-form Sofia Kenin. Kenin hasn’t dropped a set in this competition so far, defeating Bernarda Pera, Belinda Bencic and Daria Kasatkina in the process.
And while Kalinskaya has returned to some of her best form, Kenin’s steadiness and stability could prove to be too good for her.
Kalinskaya v Kenin Tip: Kenin to win: 17/20
