WTA Charleston 2025 Semifinals Predictions for Saturday, April 5 Feat. Pegula v Alexandrova & Anisimova v Kenin

The WTA Charleston Open 2025 continues on Friday, April 4 with its semifinals to be played today. Jessica Pegula & Amanda Anisimova will be two of those in action and you can get the best predictions and tips for the day from Charleston Open 2025 below.

Amanda Anisimova v Sofia Kenin

World number 16 Amanda Anisimova has a good chance to make it to another final for the season as she takes on fellow American and 44th-ranked Sofia Kenin in their Charleston semifinal. While they have never faced off before this at this level there have been two ITF level matches between them which ended 1-1.

Anisimova, who had won the WTA 1000 title in Doha earlier this year, showed she can bring the same form to clay when she coasted to the semifinal with her third successive straight-set win. Having crushed Veronika Kudermetova and Yulia Putintseva in her previous two rounds, Anisimova claimed her last four spot with a 7-5, 7-6 (1) victory over the world number 11 Emma Navarro.

And in doing so, Anisimova looks to have moved closer to Navarro on the rankings charts. She starts off a 1/2 favourite here and that’s despite how well Sofia Kenin has gone this season.

Kenin, who had eased past Bernarda Pera in her opener, then shocked Belinda Bencic in the second round. She was 11/10 going into her third round match against Daria Kasatkina and yet, took just two sets to come through before crushing Anna Kalinskaya 6-4, 6-3 in their quarterfinal.

It might not be that easy against someone like Anisimova who has been in some terrific form and loves her time on clay as well.

Anisimova v Kenin Tip: Anisimova to win: 1/2

Jessica Pegula v Ekaterina Alexandrova

This will be the fourth meeting between these two players and it’s interesting to note that Ekaterina Alexandrova leads Jessica Pegula 2-1. What needs to be also remembered is that while Alexandrova won in their most recent encounter that came in Doha earlier this year, Pegula had grabbed a victory in their only match on clay.

Pegula, who came back from a set down against the defending champion Danielle Collins, is now in her third successive semifinal at this tournament. She has never gone beyond though, having played here 10 times before this.

This time around, Pegula has a good chance as she takes on Russia’s Alexandrova who is a surprise entrant here. Alexandrova is coming off successive shock wins, having beaten Diana Shnaider and the Olympics gold medallist Qinwen Zheng and what makes it even more special is she had had a wretched time on clay last year.

Alexandrova had featured in seven tournaments on this surface in 2024 and won a mere one match there. She has tripled her count in a matter of one competition this year but things could get a lot more difficult against Pegula.

Pegula v Alexandrova Tip: Pegula to win: 9/20
