WTA Stuttgart Open 2025 Predictions for Wednesday, April 16 Feat. Swiatek v Fett, Andreeva v Andreeva & Shnaider v Mertens

The 2025 WTA Stuttgart Open continues on Wednesday, April 16 with Iga Swiatek and Mirra Andreeva leading the way and you can get the best predictions and tips for the day from this tournament today.

Iga Swiatek v Jana Fett

World number two and two-time winner of this tournament, Iga Swiatek will kick-start her clay court swing for the season with a second round match against the 153rd-ranked Jana Fett. This will be their second meeting with the first one having come at the 2022 Wimbledon where Swiatek had won.

Here, things could get even better for Swiatek with clay being her most favourite surface by some distance. Her performance on red dirt has been second to none in years and while Swiatek hasn’t won a single title so far, she will be a huge favourite to collect a couple of them at the very least over the next two months.

Fett made it to the main draw here for the first time having gone into both her qualifiers as a second favourite. Even more shockingly, Fett overcame Donna Vekic in her opener to seal her second round berth.

That’s where her journey can be expected to end but the question is if she can push Swiatek in one of the sets. The over 15.5 games market seems to be tempting enough at 11/21 but if you are looking at an even more straightforward one, go with the under 18.5 games one.

Swiatek v Fett Tip: Over 15.5 games in the match: 11/21

Mirra Andreeva v Erika Andreeva

This is a match everyone would be looking forward to as the Andreeva sisters clash for the second time in their careers. The first time they had faced off was in Wuhan last year and surprisingly, Erika had defeated Mirra in straight sets.

Things could be a lot different this time as Mirra Andreeva looks to build on an excellent start to the season in which she is on 20-4 on win-loss. As compared to that, Erika’s only win in the main draw of a WTA 250 tournament and beyond came at the Australian Open.

Since then, she has stumbled her way through and even here in Stuttgart, Erika fell in the second round of the qualifiers to Aliaksandra Sasnovich.

A French Open semifinalist last year, Mirra should not have much of a problem getting past her sister in this encounter with a straight-set victory the most likely result. A good option would be to go with the under 20.5 games market.

Andreeva v Andreeva Tip: Under 20.5 games in the match: 3/5

Diana Shnaider v Elise Mertens

World number 13 Diana Shnaider takes on the 29th-ranked Elise Mertens in the second round of this competition and this could turn out to be an interesting battle – also reflected in the bookmakers odds what with Mertens only an 8/11 favourite here.

Shnaider was taken to the distance in her opener by Veronika Kudermetova who had grabbed the first set before her opponent came through in the next two. But now is where the problem comes for Shnaider, who is in her seventh tournament since the end of the Australian Open and hasn’t won back to back matches in any of them.

Mertens, on the other hand, tamed Aliaksandra Sasnovich in her opener after having also made the third round at the Charleston Open before this. While she has done better than Shnaider this season having made the final of two tournaments and won one of them – Singapore Open – her more recent showings have been on similar lines.

In four successive tournaments Mertens has won a round but lost in the very next, leading to an interesting match-up here.

Shnaider v Mertens Tip: Three sets in the match: 6/5
