The 2025 WTA Rouen Open will continue on Wednesday, April 16 as Elina Svitolina, Linda Noskova and Bianca Andreescu take to court. You can get the best predictions and tips for the day from this tournament here.
Elina Svitolina v Jil Teichmann
An interesting match-up this between the top seeded Elina Svitolina and the 96th-ranked Jil Teichmann who will be facing off for the fifth time in their careers. They are tied at 2-2 for the moment with their clay court meetings having resulted in a win apiece for them.
Svitolina is coming off a 2-0 singles scoreline at the Billie Jean King Cup last week at which she defeated Teichmann in straight sets. That made it her 13th win for the year to go with a mere six defeats for the Ukrainian player who has risen to 18th in the world thanks to her performances at the Australian Open and Indian Wells Open.
And Svitolina is an all-round player, having performed solidly on clay too with four instances of French Open quarterfinals under her belt. Add two title victories at the Italian Open and you are looking at a player who should have no real worries here.
Especially given that she is up against a player who is currently ranked 96th in the world and coming off early defeats in both her clay court competition appearances so far – and that at the WTA 125 level.
Backing Svitolina to have no real worries here and clinch this in two.
Svitolina v Teichmann Tip: Svitolina to win in straight sets: 3/5
Linda Noskova v Bernarda Pera
World number 33 Linda Noskova will take on the 78th-ranked Bernarda Pera in a first round match-up today. This will also be their second meeting with Noskova having grabbed a win at their first match in Doha last year.
Noskova will be kick-starting her clay court swing with this match here, having had a mixed season so far. She started off slowly with three defeats from her first four matches but came back well when she made the semifinal at the Abu Dhabi Open and the quarterfinals in Dubai.
Opening losses at Indian Wells and Miami would have dented her confidence a bit as she enters clay. Noskova’s overall performances on clay in her short career so far have been quite decent but these are very early days featuring as one of the top players in the world.
Pera will look to take advantage of that but for starters she will need to shrug off her form concerns. All of 2025, Pera has won a mere three main draw matches at the highest level and is coming off an opening defeat at the Charleston Open in what was her first clay court competition for the season.
Overall though, clay seems to be Pera’s most preferred surface and that’s where she could make things slightly more difficult for her opponent.
Noskova v Pera Tip: Pera to win a set – Yes: 1/1
Bianca Andreescu v Suzan Lamens
Former Grand Slam winner Bianca Andreescu will resume her journey back into the top 100 when she features in her first match of the season here in Rouen. The 130th-ranked player will be up against the world number 69 Suzan Lamens in their opener at this tournament, in what will also be their first meeting.
Andreescu’s injury issues have been well chronicled and to add to that, she was forced to undergo an appendectomy earlier this year which forced her to take an extended break from the sport.
It’s only three and a half months into the season is Andreescu now ready to compete and it might not be the easiest task to directly start on clay, a surface where she has hardly played, let alone won.
Suzan Lamens is coming off a couple of wins at the Billie Jean King Cup but hasn’t played any match on clay this season. Add that to the fact her performances on this surface at the highest level haven’t been anything to write home about and we could end up watching a close one here.
Andreescu v Lamens Tip: Three sets in the match: 6/5
