The fourth round matches at the 2025 ATP Rome Masters will be played on Tuesday, May 13 as Casper Ruud and Jack Draper in action today. You can get the best predictions and tips for the day from this tournament here.

Casper Ruud v Jaume Munar

Casper Ruud holds a convincing edge in this matchup, dominating Jaume Munar in their head-to-head. Ruud leads 5–1 overall and is unbeaten in their three clay-court encounters (2016 Santiago Challenger, 2018 Bastad and 2022 Gstaad).

Ruud is the prototypical modern clay-court specialist. He’s an offensive baseliner who generates heavy topspin—particularly off his forehand—and backs it up with a potent kick serve often touching 193 km/h (120 mph). His backhand, while less powerful, is reliable enough to construct points, and his calm demeanor under pressure has helped him convert 12 of his 13 career titles on clay.

Munar counters as a right-handed two-handed-backhand baseliner who excels at depth and consistency. His game is built around flat drives off both wings, solid footspeed for defense, and the occasional drop shot to change pace. His athleticism allows him to extend rallies, though against top spin-heavy hitters he can be forced into defensive positions.

Ruud’s clay résumé is one of the best among his peers: since 2020 he he has notched up 116 clay-court wins, 16 finals, and 11 titles—including a landmark Madrid Masters crown in 2024—underscoring his comfort on red dirt.

This season Ruud is 23–6 overall and arrives in Rome on an eight-match winning streak, fresh off his maiden Masters 1000 triumph in Madrid, where he outlasted Jack Draper 7-5, 3-6, 6-4 to claim the biggest title of his career. Munar, meanwhile, has had a roller-coaster year: after a slow start on clay he rebounded spectacularly in Rome, dispatching both Ben Shelton and Sebastian Korda here to improve his record against top-30 opponents to 6–3 for the season, signalling a welcome return to form.

Ruud will look to exploit his heavy topspin and superior movement by engaging Munar in high-bounce exchanges, then finishing points with his potent forehand or kick serve. Munar must stay aggressive off both wings and use depth and angles to prevent Ruud from dictating play; mixing in drop shots could be vital to draw errors from the Norwegian..

Ruud v Munar Tip: Ruud to win in straight sets: 4/6

Jack Draper v Corentin Moutet

Jack Draper vs Corentin Moutet meet for the first time on tour.

Draper’s game is built for power and aggression. The left-hander wields a 220 km/h first serve and a heavy, flat forehand that bursts through the court even at altitude. He pairs those weapons with improving footspeed and a willingness to finish at the net, a pattern that got him to the Masters 1000 final in Madrid and a career-high world No. 5 ranking this spring.

Moutet counters with craft and variety. The Frenchman’s two-handed backhand can slice low or rip with pace, and his flat, depth-driven forehand keeps opponents on the defensive. His deft drop-shot and excellent court feel—tools that have brought him wins over top-10 rivals and sustained success on clay despite limited power.

On red dirt, Draper’s résumé is still evolving but a 8-2 record on the surface this year points to good beginnings and adaptability. Moutet owns a solid career clay as well and his shock victory over Holger Rune in the third round this week should fill him up with a lot of confidence.

Tactically, Draper must shorten points with his serve-plus-forehand aggression, keeping Moutet from deploying his variety.

The Frenchman will look to mix in slices and drop-shots, extending rallies to draw errors from Draper’s heavy-hit baseline game. In a high-bounce, thin-air duel, experience on big stages gives Draper the edge, but Moutet’s guile ensures no margin for error.

Draper v Moutet Tip: Draper to win in straight sets: 1/3
