Jesper de Jong v Quentin Halys Head to Head
Their only previous meeting came on the Challenger circuit in 2022. Halys had won that clay court encounter in a hard-fought, three-setter.
de Jong 0-3 in 2025
Jesper de Jong has had quite an awful start to the season as he looks to break into the top 100 for the first time in his career.
As a result of this start this year, ranked 111th in the world in the week prior to the start of this competition, de Jong will fall to 130th.
Opting to feature in the Noumea Challenger in the first week of the season, the Dutchman fell to a straight-set loss to the 4/1 underdog Andre Ilagan and then lost his opening qualifier at the Australian Open to Aziz Dougaz, a 231st-ranked player from Tunisia.
And he went on to play in a Challenger in Oeiras after that where he again lost his opener.
Things could get a lot tougher now as he takes on an indoor hardcourt specialist in Quentin Halys.
Halys Coming off Australian Open Second Round
Quentin Halys also did not begin too well this season as he was forced to retire from the Adelaide International qualifiers because of injury.
The good new for the Frenchman was that he came back at the Australian Open and exhibited full fitness in his opening round win over Adam Walton.
Trailing by two sets to love, Halys clinched the encounter in three hours and 41 minutes to move into the second round. And while Arthur Fils got the better of Halys as was expected, he put up a brave front there too.
A quarterfinalist at this event in 2023, Halys is coming off a last-eight appearance in Metz late last year, another competition held indoors.
de Jong v Halys Prediction
At 1/2, we think Halys is a strong bet to win this and he might even do that in straight sets against a player who has generally struggled to get going this year.
de Jong v Halys Tips
- Halys to win: 1/2
- Halys to win in straight sets: 7/5
