Especially against a player who has fallen off the rankings charts a little.
Teichmann Struggling at the Highest Level
Such has been Jil Teichmann’s form that the wins at this WTA level have been few and far between.
For one, Teichmann’s most preferred surface is clay which means she has struggled to get going in hardcourt competitions at the start of the season anyway.
She was knocked out of the Canberra ITF competition in the first round itself before failing to qualify for the Australian Open main draw.
Here, she was forced to feature in the qualifiers in which she defeated Arianne Hartono and Arina Rodionova, both ranked outside the top 175 but now comes her true test when she takes on a player who is more attuned to the quicker surfaces.
