Eubanks Last Won at Winston-Salem
Once ranked 29th in the world, Christopher Eubanks has struggled to show the kind of form that took him there.
Such has been the fall on the rankings chart that Eubanks has been left with no option but to play as many Challenger competitions having last won a main draw ATP match at Winston-Salem.
He had made the quarterfinal of that tournament before losing his opener at the US Open that followed.
Since then, this will be Eubanks’ first main draw match at the highest level. He tried to make it to the Australian Open earlier this month but fell in the third qualifying round.
Can he finally get going here?
Kachmazov Comes Through the Qualifiers
Alibek Kachmazov turned pro in 2019 and won his first match at the ATP level only in 2023 – it came in Astana that year.
He would go on to make the semifinal at the Chengdu Open last year but other than that his record hasn’t been much to write home about. Not at this level anyway.
Things have gone worse for him this year. Kahcmazov failed to qualify for the Canberra Challenger and then lost in the second qualifying round at the Australian Open as well.
The Russian then featured in the Quimper Challenger last week and all he got out of that was a first round loss at the hands of Aleksandar Kovacevic.
Which is why victories over Alejandro Moro Canas and Hugo Grenier in the qualifiers would have come as both, a relief and a bit of a confidence-inducers.

Both these players have a decent record in indoor hardcourt competitions at the lower level but given Eubanks’ superior pedigree, we will have to go with him to win this. We do think that Kachmazov could snatch a set here though.
