Dayana Yastremska v Antonia Ruzic Head to Head
This will be the first meeting between Yastremska and Ruzic.
Yastremska in a Tough Win over Bronzetti
Dayana Yastremska has had a decent start to the season so far. While that hasn’t gotten reflected in her ranking thanks to the number of points she was defending from the 2024 Australian Open semifinal appearance, she would have been quite satisfied with how things have gone so far.
Adding to the list of performances this year – which included a quarterfinal at the Hobart International and a third round showing at the Australian Open – Yastremska registered a straight set win over Lucia Bronzetti in the first round here.
The Kazakh, who was once ranked 21st in the world, needed to dig deep and was on the court for two hours and eight minutes before sealing off her second round berth.
She won 7-6 (6), 7-5, after missing five set-points in the first set and saving one in the second before clinching the victory off her second match-point.

Ruzic Sends Sherif Packing
Mayar Sherif’s record outside of clay is quite underwhelming. Which is why a player like Antonia Ruzic might have been ranked 169th in the world but came into their encounter as an overwhelming favourite.
And that’s exactly how the Croat played as well, routing Sherif 6-3, 6-4 to move into the second round.
Having qualified for the tournament on the back of wins over Anca Todoni and Jodie Burrage – both of which were straight-set victories too – Ruzic was on court for a quarter short of two hours for her win.
Despite been broken thrice in the contest, Ruzic had enough firepower in the tank to get past her opponent’s serve five times including three times in the second set.
She now faces a far stronger second round opponent and might meet her match.
Yastremska v Ruzic Prediction
This should be a fairly straightforward one for Yastremska as she looks to build on a consistent start to the year. Expecting her to come through in straight sets.
Yastremska v Ruzic Tips
- Yastremska to win: 4/6
- Yastremska to win in straight sets: 9/5
