Coming into this tournament on the back of a mixed start to the season in which Auger-Aliassime had won a title in Adelaide but also lost in the second round at the Australian Open, the Canadian had a tricky opener here.
After a first round bye, Auger-Aliassime was drawn to take on Arthur Cazaux, an opponent who had touched a career high of 63rd in the world.

Bu Reversing Poor Start
Yunchaokete Bu had made a poor start to the season as he had fallen to three successive first round losses in Hong Kong, Auckland and at the Australian Open, winning a mere one set in total.
Which is why that first round victory in this tournament over Daniel Altmaier was a crucial one to get Bu going.
That confidence showed up in the second round too, as the 3/5 favourite Bu sent Constant Lestienne packing in double quick time. winning 6-2, 6-1 in a mere 64 minutes.
