They first played on the grass courts of Bad Homburg in 2021, a match which Blinkova won in three sets. They faced off again in a WTA 125 match in Angers the following year where Tauson won in straight sets.
Tauson Form Continues in Cirstea Win
At the end of her second round match at this tournament in Linz, Clara Tauson has now played 10 matches in 2025 and has lost just one. That defeat had come at the hands of Aryna Sabalenka at the Australian Open, which was par for the course given she was up against the world number one.
No surprises then that Tauson carved out a neat little win over Sorana Cirstea to clinch that 10th win for the year, defeating the Romanian player 6-2, 6-4.
The match lasted an hour and a half with Tauson running away with the first set with two breaks of serves. She went 2-0 up in the second.
While Cirstea broke her back in the eighth game, Tauson retaliated with a break in the very next game before serving it out to 15 to grab the win.

Blinkova Finally Wins Two in Two
The last time that Anna Blinkova won successive matches in a WTA event was way back in October last year when she did that in Hong Kong.
Since then, Blinkova has been getting consistent returns at the lower circuit and winning a round at the highest level but hasn’t done too much more than that.
Even in 2025, she is in her fourth tournament here in Linz and Blinkova had won the first round in each one of them – in Brisbane, Hobart and then at the Australian Open – but lost the second match in each of them.
Which is why when she took to court against Elina Svitolina, she would have been both, determined and an underdog given the quality of her opponent. For her to then come through in straight sets would have been a big relief.
