Rune Showing Signs of Turnaround
A brilliant 2022-2023 season saw Holger Rune not just break into the top 10 but also hit a career-best ranking of fourth in the world.
Since then, however, things haven’t quite gone to plan for the Danish number one and while he’s not been completely off the radar, it must be said that he hasn’t looked as challenging as he did earlier.
The good news for Rune, however, is that he showed what he is capable of at the Australian Open earlier this year.
Following a first round loss at the Brisbane International to Jiri Lehecka, question-marks had begun to be raised over his hunger but he showed what he can do even without the kind of rhythm he has had at his best.
Rune went on to make the fourth round at the Australian Open and was one of the two to take a set off the eventual champion Jannik Sinner before bowing out of that tournament fighting.

Sonego Make Australian Open Quarterfinals
In what turned out to be a first of his career, Lorenzo Sonego made it to the quarterfinals at the Australian Open. He had never gone that far in any of the majors in his career.
Sonego, who kick-started the season with second round losses at both, the Hong Kong Open and Auckland Open, overcame Stan Wawrinka, Joao Fonseca, Fabian Marozan and Learner Tien in Melbourne before Ben Shelton stalled his excellent run.
It will be interesting to see if Sonego can now translate the same form into the rest of the season, especially here at the Rotterdam Open where he plays indoors.
His indoor record isn’t the greatest by any stretch with Sonego having bowed out of the first round of this very competition all his three previous visits. Will anything change this time?
