Felix Auger-Aliassime v Aleksandar Kovacevic Head to Head
Their only previous meeting came in the 2024 Cincinnati Open and Auger-Aliassime had won that in straight sets.
Auger-Aliassime Makes Second Final of the Season
It’s still very early days in the year and Felix Auger-Aliassime has already made his second final of the season. That’s not a record too many players can boast of right now in 2025.
Auger-Aliassime, who went on to win the title in Adelaide in the lead-up to the Australian Open, has now clinched his finals spot here with a straight-set win over Jesper de Jong.
De Jong was a surprise semifinalist but put up quite a fight before Auger-Aliassime sealed the encounter 6-4, 7-6 (4) and entered the final. The match went on for two hours and five minutes.
Following a first round bye and wins over Arthur Cazaux and Y Bu in his previous rounds, Auger-Aliassime hammered 12 aces and broke his opponent twice in the match. Rather interestingly, he missed 11 opportunities too.
In the second set, de Jong even went 3-1 up at one stage before Auger-Aliassime recovered to break back and grab the win in a tie-breaker.

Kovacevic Shocks Rublev
Aleksandar Kovacevic has five Challenger level titles in his career, the last of which had come last month in Oeiras. It’s that same form that he had taken into this tournament’s qualifiers.
While he was expected to make it through to the main draw despite having to face Pablo Carreno Busta in one of those matches, not too many would have expected him to get all the way to the final.
This when he had to face Alexander Bublik in the quarterfinal and Andrey Rublev in the semis.
He was the underdog going into both those matches and won then both in straight sets. Against Rublev, who was the odds on favourite at 1/4, Kovacevic lost his serve just once – when he was himself about to serve for a 5-3 lead.
In the second set, the two went on serve till the ninth game before Rublev failed to serve to stay in the match.
Kovacevic will be contesting in his maiden ATP final at this level and irrespective of the result can be expected to get close to his career-best ranking of 72nd in the world.
Auger-Aliassime v Kovacevic Prediction
Auger-Aliassime will face a stiff challenge from the in-form Kovacevic but the Canadian is himself in some excellent touch. We could see a three-setter here.
