Stefanos Tsitsipas v Harold Mayot Head to Head
Tsitsipas and Mayot have never faced off in a competitive match before this.
Tsitsipas Needs a Turnaround
Stefanos Tsitsipas has often been tipped to be one of the players with a capability to win a Grand Slam. He has reached the final at two of them – the 2023 Australian Open and the 2021 French Open but lost both.
In more recent times, however, Tsitsipas looks to have lost the kind of consistency that’s needed to get there.
He still won the Monte-Carlo Masters last year but look at the Grand Slams alone and Tsitsipas made the quarterfinal at just one and was bundled out in the first round and second round at US Open and Wimbledon respectively.
And things have begun in similar fashion in 2025 as well, with the Greek number one losing to Alexander Shevchenko at the United Cup and falling apart at the seams in his Australian Open opener against Alex Michelsen.
A finalist in this tournament in 2022, Tsitsipas would love to do something similar here. Or better.

Mayot Makes it Through the Qualifiers
Harold Mayot has never been a top 100 player and last won a main draw match at the highest level in Atlanta last July.
Such wins have been few and far between and this inability has meant that Mayot was forced to feature in the qualifiers here.
This followed a first round exit at the Montpellier Open and Quimper Challenger – where he lost to Benoit Paire – and an inability to win a round at the Quimper Challenger.
Which is why victories over Michael Vrbensky and Mikhail Kukushkin in the qualifiers here would be a bit of a relief. He does have a struggling top 15 opponent against him but even then, his own tennis hasn’t been at the best of his capabilities and that would prove to be tough to surmount for him.
Tsitsipas v Mayot Prediction
While there is no doubting Tsitsipas’ struggles, there has been something similar happening at the other end too which makes the Greek player a favourite to win this in two.
Tsitsipas v Mayot Tips
- Tsitsipas to win in straight sets: 10/11
