Andrey Rublev v Zhizhen Zhang Head to Head
There have been three previous meetings between these two players with Rublev winning all. They came at Astana in 2022 and in Dubai and Cincinnati last year.
Rublev Continues to Struggle
It’s been a strange start to the season for Andrey Rublev who has barely played like the top-10 player that he is.
Once ranked fifth in the world, Rublev has had his moments under the sun especially having won the Monte-Carlo Masters in 2023 and the Madrid Masters last year.
Other than clay, Rublev has also made the final at the Cincinnati, Canadian and Shanghai Masters as well and has been a quarterfinalist at all four Grand Slams – indicative of an all-round tennis star that he is.
Unfortunately for Rublev that hasn’t translated well this season with the Russian losing three matches to his two wins.
And those defeats have come to surprise opponents = Fabian Marozsan in Hong Kong, Joao Fonseca at the Australian Open and lately in the quarterfinals he lost his Montpellier Open match to Aleksandar Kovacevic.
He will be looking to get himself a turnaround.

Zhang’s Draw Jinx Continues
Zhizhen Zhang is coming off a win in the Davis Cup last week where he defeated Aleksa Krivokapic. Krivokapic is unranked player right now and his official ATP page suggests he has a career earning of $366 so far.
The point of the aforementioned passage was the fact that it was a fairly straightforward opponent for Zhang and he came through easily. But what’s interesting is what’s happened with Zhang over four matches before that.
He has faced Alexander Zverev and Taylor Fritz at the United Cup, Denis Shapovalov in Adelaide and Holger Rune at the Australian Open – three of the four being current top 15 players.
And now he will be up against Andrey Rublev, a world number 10. Surely, not the great start to the season, both from the perspective of early opponents and the subsequent results.
Rublev v Zhang Prediction
While Rublev’s form doesn’t augur well for him, he did show some signs of a turnaround and against Zhizhen Zhang he will have his chances. Backing him to win but could be taken to a tie-breaker in one of them.
Rublev v Zhang Tips
- Rublev to win in straight sets: 4/5
