Tommy Paul v Jenson Brooksby Head to Head
They have faced off twice before this and Paul won both those times. These two matches came at the 2022 Cincinnati Open and the 2023 Australian Open.
Paul Coming off Australian Open Quarterfinals
A semifinal appearance at the Adelaide International is what kick-started Tommy Paul’s season and while he made a slow start to the Australian Open, he did well to enter the quarterfinal stage of the tournament.
In the first round there, Paul needed five sets to overcome Christopher O’Connell before Kei Nishikori forced him into the fourth sets in round two.
Roberto Carballes Baena and Alejandro Davidovich Fokina were sent packing in straight sets with Paul losing just 11 games over those matches but then met his match at the hands of Alexander Zverev.
He did put up some resistance but the eventual Australian Open runner-up took him out in four sets.
Paul now returns to the tournament where he won his first of three titles in 2024 and the second career title. Can he kick-start his defence on a strong note?

Brooksby Taking Steps Back to the Tour
Jenson Brooksby had hit a career-high ranking of 33rd in the world after making it to the third round of three successive Grand Slam events between 2022 and 2023. He had also entered the fourth round at both, the Indian Wells Masters and Miami Masters in 2022.
However, a combination of a wrist injury and a provisional suspension because of doping charges meant he was out of action for more than a year before returning to competitive tennis earlier this year.
In his first match back, Brooksby lost to Taylor Fritz in the first round of the Australian Open and then went down to JJ Paul at the Cleveland Challenger in the opening round.
He now faces another tough challenge in the form of Paul and things could even more difficult for him on court.
Paul v Brooksby Prediction
Paul can be expected to clinch this in straight sets but we still think Brooksby will be no pushover and can be expected to put up some resistance in at least one of those sets.
Paul v Brooksby Tips
- Paul to win in straight sets: 3/10
- Over 17.5 games in the match: 11/20
