Having come back brilliantly from his fitness woes and won three titles in 2024 – on the clay of Marrakesh, Gstaad and Kitzbuhel – a lot was expected from Matteo Berrettini when he took to court for the first time this year.

Griekspoor 2-2 in 2025
Having directly played at the Australian Open to kick-start his season, Tallon Griekspoor failed to get going and crashed out in the very first round. It was a straight-set loss at the hands of Hubert Hurkacz.
Fortunately for Griekspoor, he was able to turn things around last week when he featured indoors in Montpellier. In the first round there, he defeated fellow Dutchman Botic van de Zandschulp in straight sets before edging past the experienced Richard Gasquet in the second.
Griekspoor should have gone even further as he took on the the wildcard entrant and countryman Jesper de Jong but fell away rather alarmingly to him in the quarterfinal.
The question is if he can shrug that loss off and come back all guns blazing against a player who has an iffy recent record in indoor competitions.
