Shapovalov v Kecmanovic Head to Head
There have four meetings between these two players at the highest level and one other on the ITF circuit way back in 2016. Shapovalov leads 5-0.
Their last meeting came at the 2024 Washington Open where Shapovalov had needed three sets to get through.
Struggling Shapovalov Needs Consistency
A first round exit at the Hong Kong Open, a second round loss in Adelaide and then another second round defeat at the Australian Open – that’s what Denis Shapovalov has done this year.
And that has been the story of Shapovalov’s career which has been punctuated by the odd good showing in a tournament like when he was the Belgrade Open last year but there have been quite a few ordinary ones.
Like has been the case this season.
Those three losses so far have come at the hands of Kei Nishikori, Marcos Giron and Lorenzo Musetti – two of whom cannot boast of any great credentials in recent times.
Which is why backing Shapovalov at the best of times isn’t something that makes a lot of sense.

Kecmanovic Makes a Solid Start to 2025
While Shapovalov has had his issues this season, Miomir Kecmanovic has delivered the goods in each of the tournament that he’s played in.
Kecmanovic started off with a second round appearance at the Hong Kong Open and then followed it up with a semifinal showing in Adelaide.
He would go on to defeat Hubert Hurkacz in the second round of Australian Open as well, before Holger Rune got the better of him.
The only catch to all of this is that Kecmanovic’s record in indoor hardcourt competitions isn’t as good as the other surfaces. Also Shapovalov does reasonably well on these surfaces.
Shapovalov v Kecmanovic Prediction
It’s not difficult to see why Shapovalov starts off a 11/20 favourite in this encounter – the fastish nature of the surface will suit his place. Backing him to get through in this encounter despite the slow start he has had.
Shapovalov v Kecmanovic Tips
- Shapovalov to win: 11/20
