Tomas Machac v Kei Nishikori Head to Head
Machac and Nishikori have never faced off in a competitive match before this.
Machac Aiming for a Top 20 Spot
Tomas Machac will kick-start his campaign in this competition ranked 25th in the world with an aim to try and break into the top 20. Other than obviously to try and win his maiden title at this level.
He enters the competition on the back of a solid showing in the United Cup before making it to the third round at the Australian Open where he lost to Novak Djokovic.
At the United Cup, Machac had stormed to wins over Hubert Hurkacz and Flavio Cobolli but Taylor Fritz and Casper Ruud had bested him.
Machac now takes on a doughty player, and one who has been playing competitive for nearly 20 years now. Can he kick-start his Dallas Open debut with a win?

Nishikori Returning to His Best?
Kei Nishikori did not feature in a lot of tennis in 2023 because of fitness-related issues and returned in 2024 ranked 352nd on the ATP charts.
Over the following 12 months he improved to just outside the top 100 thanks to his quarterfinal appearance in Montreal, and another one at home in the Japan Open.
This year, he has edged ahead and is now ranked 71st in the world thanks to his sterling showing at the Hong Kong Open earlier this year.
Nishikori defeated Denis Shapovalov, Karen Khachanov and Cameron Norrie on his way to the final of that tournament before falling to Alexandre Muller. And while he lost in the second round at the Australian Open it was to Tommy Paul and not before he had given a fight.
We can see him push Machac hard here.
