Linda Noskova v Magda Linette Head to Head
There have been two previous meetings between these two players and both have been pocketed by Linette. Both came in clay court competitions – at Rome in 2023 and Prague last year.
Noskova Shocker for Badosa
Paula Badosa had entered this tournament on the back of a sizzling showing at the Australian Open where she made the semifinal. So when she followed that up with her opening encounter here against Linda Noskova following a first round bye, a lot was expected of her.
Noskova had other ideas. In a mere 68 minutes she had demolished Badosa, winning 6-4, 6-1 to seal her place in the quarterfinals.
It wasn’t like Badosa did not put up a fight, especially in the first set. There she broke right back after dropping her serve at 3-3 but Noskova was all over serve right again and a second break of serve was followed by a hold that won her the set.
In the second, Noskova raced off to a 3-0 lead and while she lost her serve once, the world number 39 came back to break her opponent two more times to seal the deal.
Noskova had earlier cruised past Magdalena Frech in the first round, a win that broke her three-match losing streak.

Linette Benefits from Pavlyuchenkova Injury
Magda Linette’s form has been shaky for a while now and it came as no surprise she started a 23/10 underdog heading into her second round match against Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova.
And while Linette put up a fight in the opening set, breaking Pavlyuchenkova a couple of times, it was her opponent who grabbed it 7-5.
In the second set, however, Pavlyuchenkova looked to be struggling with her fitness and Linette broke her twice to go 4-1 before the Russian retired from the contest.
This win, albeit in such circumstances, would be more a relief than a confidence-booster for Linette who last won back to back matches in Wuhan in October 2024.
