Casper Ruud v Jaume Munar Head to Head

Casper Ruud had a tough first set in his quarterfinal against Yoshihito Nishioka but just as the contest was heating up, the Japanese player retired from their match.
An hour and 20 minutes into the contest, Ruud had cemented his semifinal berth with a 7-5, 3-2 win over Nishioka, his first of the season and the first since he made that stage at the ATP Finals late last season.
Having needed three sets to edge past James Duckworth in the first, Ruud improved to a straight sets victory against Michael Mmoh in the second.
And here, he came back from being 0-2 down in the opening set to break back just as his Japanese opponent served for the set at 5-4. And just as Nishioka was recovering from that, Ruud broke him again, for the second time to clinch the set.
In the second, the match was on serve when Nishioka threw in the towel.

Munar Shocks Arnaldi
Jaume Munar continues to impress. For the second time in the season, he has now won three rounds in a row after having also reached the semifinal at the Hong Kong Open and for him to have done that in a hardcourt competition speaks volumes about his commitment to the cause.
The cause here is the improvement that was needed from Munar outside of clay and the manner in which he has played in this tournament exhibits just that.
Having knocked out Y Bu in the first round, Munar had sealed an upset win over Australian Open semifinalist Ben Shelton on the second. And in the quarterfinals, Munar thwarted a fighting Matteo Arnaldi to win in three.
In a match lasting two hours and 18 minutes, Munar clinched his place in the last four by winning 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 as he lost his serve just once in the encounter.
