Emma Raducanu v Ekaterina Alexandrova Head to Head
They have faced off once before this. The match came at the Australian Open played earlier this year and Raducanu found a way to win it in two tie-breakers.
Raducanu Hoping to Reverse Losing Streak
Emma Raducanu has managed to get a wildcard to a tournament in which she has played just once before – in 2024 where she was knocked out in the first round.
She had looked good in her first two matches of the season, which she kicked off at the Australian Open. Wins over Ekaterina Alexandrova and Amanda Anisimova in that competition would have kept her in a good stead especially given that she had had to withdraw from her previous tournament because of fitness concerns.
However, things have nose-dived for her since then.
Raducanu lost to Iga Swiatek in round three there and while there’s no shame there, she would have been pushed back by the manner of loss – a 6-1, 6-0 drubbing at the hands of the multiple Grand Slam winner.
And that was followed by first round defeats at both, the Singapore Open and the Abu Dhabi Open, going down to Cristina Bucsa and Marketa Vondrousova respectively.

Alexandrova Coming off Linz Title Win
While Ekaterina Alexandrova did not have the greatest of starts to the season, she seems to have turned things around last week.
Kick-starting her year at the Brisbane International, Alexandrova was bundled out of her opener by Ons Jabeur before Emma Navarro got the better of her in Adelaide in the second round.
And then facing up to Raducanu in the first round at the Australian Open, she failed to find a way to get past her.
It was at Linz that Alexandrova finally looked to have settled in for the season. She started off with a first round win over Aliaksandra Sasnovich before coming back from a set down to edge out Petra Martic.
A straight-set win over Karolina Muchova followed and in the final Alexandrova needed three sets to seal off her title by beating Dayana Yastremska.
With that confidence under her belt, things could get interesting here.

It’s interesting to note that Raducanu starts off a bit of a favourite here with bookmakers offering 5/6 for her win as compared to 1/1 if Alexandrova avenges her Australian Open loss. While the two are evenly poised, we can look at the two players’ form and go with the Russian edging this in two or three very close sets.
