Nuno Borges v Stan Wawrinka Head to Head
Their only previous meeting came at the 2024 Bucharest Open in which Borges won in three sets.
Borges in a Rich Vein of Form in 2025
Known more for his performances on clay, Nuno Borges looks to have turned things around over the last season or so when it comes to surfaces other than that.
And this year in particular, Borges has been quite solid in hardcourt competitions.
After a second round defeat to Jaume Munar at the Hong Kong Open, Borges made it to the semifinal at the Auckland Open also defeating Jakub Mensik before that.
And at the Australian Open after that, Borges was a third round entrant where he gave Carlos Alcaraz a run for his money before bowing out.
With those kind of performances under his belt this year, Borges will be confident enough to take on the former Grand Slam winner here.

Wawrinka 0-3 for the Season
Once a Grand Slam winner, Stan Wawrinka has now been struggling to hold on to whatever’s left of his tennis legacy, trying his level to win matches, let alone tournaments.
Last year, Wawrinka won a total of 12 matches in the entire tennis season. And this year has been no different with the Swiss player having featured in three tournaments and lost all three matches.
These losses came to Lorenzo Sonego at the Australian Open, Arthur Cazaux at the Montpellier Open and Daniil Medvedev last week in Rotterdam.
And while Wawrinka did stretch Medvedev into the final set, that was more down to his opponent’s recent struggles.
Against Borges, Wawrinka might think he has an outside chance but he will need to do a lot better than what he has so far this year.
Borges v Wawrinka Prediction
Borges is 3/5 to win this and given how Wawrinka has gone about his business this season, it could be a good bet to make in favour of Borges. Might see a third set too.
Borges v Wawrinka Tips
- Borges to win: 3/5
- Three sets in the match: 6/5
