38-year-old Richard Gasquet has fallen to 130th in the world and unless he can come up with some strong performances at the highest level or starts playing and winning Challenger titles, it looks like this trend could continue.
Gasquet had begun the season with a qualifying loss at the Brisbane International and he followed that up with a straight-set defeat at the hands of Duje Ajdukovic in the first qualifying round at the Australian Open as well.
Earning a wildcard in Montpellier helped him get a place in the main draw where the Frenchman overcame fellow struggling countryman Adrian Mannarino but Tallon Griekspoor got the better of him in the second round.
