Cameron Norrie v Arthur Rinderknech Preview
Head-to-Head: These two have faced off twice before, both of which came in 2021 and Norrie won them both.
Cameron Norrie hasn’t got going this season and before coming into this tournament, the Briton had won just three of the seven matches he had played for the year.
Having made the second round at Dallas last week before going down to Reilly Opelka, Norrie got off the blocks rather quickly against Zachary Svajda. He was pushed a little in the first set but in the end came through in straight sets, winning 7-5, 6-4 to enter round two.
He had earlier won successive matches in Hong Kong but lost in the third. Can Norrie now overcome Arthur Rinderknech to emulate that record?
Rinderknech was up against a 208th-ranked player in the form of Dmitry Popko. Popko, who had lost to Michael Mmoh in the qualifiers but made it to the main draw as a lucky loser proved to be no match for Rinderknech.
The French, 29-year-old won 6-2, 6-4 to set up his meeting with Norrie.
Norrie starts a favourite but we might have to be a tad wary of that given what’s happened this season so far.
Norrie v Rinderknech prediction: Three sets in the match: 6/5

Miomir Kecmanovic v Yoshihito Nishioka Preview
Head-to-Head: There have been six previous meetings between these two and both have won three apiece. Two of these came last year with both winning one, including Kecmanovic clinching a victory at the US Open and Nishioka at Cincinnati just before that.
Miomir Kecmanovic continued to exhibit good touch as he registered his eighth win of the season to go with just five defeats.
This latest victory came in the first round against Borna Gojo, with the Serb being on court for a mere hour and 11 minutes. He won 6-4, 6-4.
It would also be a bit of relief for Kecmanovic who had been sent out in the Dallas opener last week. In the end, his vanquisher Denis Shapovalov had gone on to win the title too.
He now takes on Yoshihito Nishioka who had earlier made the quarterfinals in Dallas. He went on to crushed Aleksandar Vukic in the first round here, winning 6-3, 6-4.
Their respective records in the season to go with their head to head record points to this being a difficult call. We could see a fighting encounter and the games market could be one to look at.
Kecmanovic v Nishioka prediction: Over 21.5 games in the match: 8/13
