Alejandro Tabilo v Laslo Djere Preview
Head-to-Head: Their only previous meeting came at the 2022 Wimbledon and Tabilo had won it in five sets with the final set ending in a tie-breaker that went 13-11.
Alejandro Tabilo will be a touch relieved to be taking to court away from a hardcourt surface, and away from the land down under. That’s because the former Auckland Open champion kick-started his season in an abysmal manner there.
Benjamin Bonzi, Nishesh Basavareddy and Roberto Carballes Baena aren’t the kind of opponents you would expect to defeat him every single time he took to the court but that’s exactly what happened in his first three matches.
Tabilo had a first round bye here too, so it’s finally going to be his turn to take to court on the clay courts of this tournament in Buenos Aires.
The good news for Tabilo is he will be up against a player ranked 112th in Laslo Djere, who is coming off a fine, 6-3, 6-3 win over Alexandre Muller in the first round.
Djere had earlier made it through the qualifiers to make the main draw and much like his opponent here, hadn’t won anything before that.
We could see an intriguing battle between two players with a huge gulf in their ranking but with the lower-ranked Djere having the upper hand thanks to his overall record on clay.
Tabilo v Djere prediction: Djere to win: 11/20

Sebastian Baez v Thiago Seyboth Wild Preview
Head-to-Head: The 31st-ranked Baez and the world number 77 Seyboth Wild have never faced off at the highest level before this. They did face off on the Challenger circuit in 2023 where Baez had won in three.
It took Sebastian Baez a loss in the first round at the Australian Open to move away from the hardcourt competitions and on to the clay courts of South America.
Baez featured in the Rosario Challenger before this and made the semifinal there to get going and in the first round here won 6-4, 6-4 against Camilo Ugo Carabelli.
The stakes will now rise for Baez who had reached the quarterfinal of the event last year too but against an opponent who can turn things on at times.
Thiago Seyboth Wild was forced into a third set in his opener by Facundo Diaz Acosta but the Brazilian player showed he can put up a fight, especially on clay.
He came back from being a set down to seal his place in the second round for the first time since the Antwerp Open last year. Can he put up a similar fight against the highly pedigreed Baez?
Baez v Seyboth Wild prediction: Baez to win in three sets: 3/1
