Reilly Opelka v Brandon Nakashima Head to Head
Their only previous meeting came in Sydney in 2022 and Opelka had won that in straight sets.
Opelka Clinches Straight-Set Win over Eubanks
Christopher Eubanks put up a fight in the second set of his opening round match against Reilly Opelka but it proved to be to no avail.
Opelka came through in straight sets to win his eighth match of the season – he has just three losses to go with that including one in which he was forced to retire in Brisbane due to injury – and will now face another American.
The match went on for nearly an hour and a half as Opelka saved a set point in the second set before clinching it 6-3, 7-6 (7). As is typical by now with Opelka, he served up 12 aces in the match and faced just one break-point which he saved before coming through.
In his second round, he takes on a player who has had a poor season so far and that should give Opelka a good chance of clinching a place in the last eight.

Nakashima Wins against Trotter
James Trotter is ranked 182nd in the world and for a moment in the first set of his first round match against Brandon Nakashima it looked like he had a chance.
Nakashima had, after all, come into this encounter with just one win from five matches in the 2025 season and when he was unable to break Trotter in the first set, things could have gone either way.
Instead, Nakashima composed himself and raced off to a 6-1 lead in the ensuing tie-breaker before closing it out. And as he grew in confidence, Nakashima then broke Trotter two times to clinch the victory.
A quarterfinalist in this tournament in 2020, Nakashima will now look to make it two wins in a row, something he had last done in Hangzhou last year. Against Opelka that might not be an easy task.
Opelka v Nakashima Prediction
Opelka could be stretched or he might not have any issues but either way he looks to be in some good form that should be enough for him to grab a win here.
