Bu Crushes Hijikata
While Yunchaokete Bu was a favourite coming into his opening round match here against Rinky Hijikata, not too many expected him to send his opponent packing the way he did.
And that was to do with the fact that Bu has had his own struggles through the season having won just two of the previous seven matches he had played in 2025. This included opening losses at Hong Kong, Auckland, Dallas and at the Australian Open.
Which is why a 6-2, 6-0 drubbing in just an hour of tennis was a dream result that Bu would have really enjoyed.
A break in the very first game was followed by another in the fifth and from that point onward, Hijikata won just one game in the entire match.
