Daniel Altmaier v Hamad Medjedovic Head to Head
Altmaier and Medjedovic have never faced off in a competitive match before this.
Altmaier Sends Virtanen Packing
For the second time in a row, Daniel Altmaier kick-started his match at Marseille as the second favourite and for the second time, he not only overturned the odds but did that in fine style too.
After having sent Luca Nardi packing in the first round in straight sets, Almatier registered a 6-4, 6-3 win over Virtanen in the second. The match lasted an hour and 28 minutes.
And while the scoreline represents a one-sided encounter, there were moments in the match where Virtanen could have turned things around. Especially given that Altmaier was forced to save 11 break-points during his win.
He managed to overcome 10 of those, got broken once but Altmaier came back to get the better of his opponent’s serve on four occasions.
This follows Altmaier’s quarterfinal appearance at the Rotterdam Open last week as well. The last time he made the semifinal of an ATP event was in Kitzbuhel in 2021 – a little over four years ago.

Medjedovic Stuns Khachanov
While Hamad Medjedovic had a relatively straightforward opponent in the first round of this tournament in the form of Raphael Collignon and sealed off a straight-set win over him, he faced up to the might of Karen Khachanov in the second.
Khachanov is ranked 21st in the world and was coming off a third round appearance at the Australian Open, which meant he started out a 3/5 favourite against Medjedovic.
Medjedovic was having none of that.
He remained on court for a mere hour and 13 minutes in his 6-2, 6-3 thrashing of Khachanov – his first serves bailing him out of trouble for most part of the match. Medjedovic got 65% of his first serves in and won 72% of them.
He will now take on a player who has shown consistency over the past two weeks but in this mood, Medjedovic looks unstoppable.
Altmaier v Medjedovic Prediction
Irrespective of the result, Medjedovic will break into the top 90 for the first time in his career next week and that would be the perfect shot in the arm for him. He could go on even further here.
Backing him for another victory and possibly a straight-set one.
Altmaier v Medjedovic Tips
- Medjedovic to win: 9/20
