Beatriz Haddad Maia v Anastasia Potapova Head to Head
Haddad Maia and Potapova have never faced off before this.
Haddad Maia in Strife
Beatriz Haddad Maia has featured in four tournaments this season and only in Australian Open did she manage to win a round. In fact the Brazilian made the third round there with wins over Julia Riera and Erika Andreeva but other than that it’s been a highly forgettable season for Haddad Maia.
Her problems started at the United Cup where Brazil were knocked out in the very first round when she fell to defeats at the hands of Xinyu Gao and Laura Siegemund.
Madison Keys then took her out in the first round of Adelaide International and while that Australian Open run might have helped her a little, things have turned for the worse again.
Veronika Kudermetova, who has herself been struggling to get going (having suffered a 6-0, 6-0 too this year), took her out of the Australian Open and last week in Doha, Haddad Maia was sent packing by Magdalena Frech in the first round.
She will need to start cobbling a few consistent performances together.

Potapova Coming off a Title Win
It’s been the kind of a start to the season that Anastasia Potapova would have been hoping for.
It started in Brisbane where she made the third round and while she was knocked out of the Australian Open in the second round itself, Potapova came back well in Linz.
A couple of wins there took her to the quarterfinal and using the same momentum in indoor hardcourt competitions, Potapova went on to grab her third career title when she won the Cluj-Napoca competition – after Linz in 2023 and Istanbul in 2022.
To play the devil’s advocate here, that last title win came in a tournament where Potapova did not face too many of the top players. In fact none of them were ranked better than Lucia Bronzetti’s 56th.
Can she now up the ante against some of the top players in the world?
Haddad Maia v Potapova Prediction
Given how things have gone for the two players, Potapova starts off a favourite, with the Russian looking to good to win this on form and on paper.
