Mirra Andreeva v Elina Avanesyan Head to Head
There have been two previous meetings between these two. Both of them came on clay and Andreeva won them both – at the 2024 WTA Rouen and WTA Iasi.
Andreeva Growing as a Player Despite Early Doha Loss
At the time of writing, Mirra Andreeva is still playing in the doubles semifinals at the WTA Doha but she might not have been too chuffed at having lost in the second round of the singles draw.
After all, Andreeva had entered the tournament last week on the back of successive sparkling performances – a semifinal at the Brisbane International where she lost to Aryna Sabalenka and then a fourth round loss at the Australian Open where she again fell to the same opponent.
Which is probably acceptable at this stage of her career – losing to the world number one is no great shame.
What might hurt her a little is her second round loss in Doha that came at the hands of Rebecca Sramkova. Andreeva will look to turn things around here in Dubai.

Avanesyan 5-4 for the Season
Elina Avanesyan was one of the most improved players in the top 100 as she went from finishing the previous season ranked 73rd to her 43rd at the start of 2025.
While she is yet to win a title on the WTA circuit, her performances in 2025 have also been a reminder why she is a dangerous opponent who cannot be taken lightly.
Avanesyan might not always be at the top of her game but she has already registered wins over Paula Badosa, Katerina Siniakova and Rebecca Sramkova this year.
Having made the semifinal at the Hobart International, Avanesyan would have expected to do better at the Australian Open but fell to Yulia Putintseva in what was a fighting defeat.
She enters this tournament on the back of a second round ouster at the hands of Daria Kasatkina in Doha.
Andreeva v Avanesyan Prediction
Andreeva’s excellent form should mean she might not have too many problems here and a win looks all but certain. What one might not be sure of is if she can do that in two sets.
Andreeva v Avanesyan Tips
- Andreeva to win: 3/10
- Over 19.5 games in the match: 3/4
