Nicolas Jarry v Juan Manuel Cerundolo Head to Head
Their first meeting came in the final of the 2021 Lima Challenger while they faced off again in the qualifiers of the Rio Open in 2023. Jarry won it both times in straight sets.
Jarry Stunned by Schwartzman
Diego Schwartzman hadn’t played competitive tennis for a few months and had announced that he would be using the Argentina Open last week as his swansong tournament.
He was drawn to play Nicolas Jarry in his opener and the Argentine had started a whopping but expected 3/1 underdog for that encounter.
For Jarry to still lose a hard-fought three-setter to his veteran opponent was a bit of a surprise, especially given how easily Schwartzman folded after that in his second round match.
That performance would worry Jarry, who had had a decent start to the season when he made the quarterfinals at the Brisbane International but then lost two matches in a row coming into that Argentina Open encounter.
Now he is on a three-match losing streak and needs a quick turnaround.

Cerundolo Showing Signs of Improvement
Juan Manuel Cerundolo started off the season with qualifying losses in Hong Kong and at the Australian Open and then he returned to his favourite clay, he was knocked out of the first round of a Challenger tournament in Uruguay.
Since then, however, Cerundolo has finally gotten back to some of his better tennis.
He made the quarterfinal of the Rosario Challenger where one of his victims was Federico Coria and then made it through the qualifiers to enter the main draw of the Argentina Open.
Cerundolo overcame Andres Burruchaga Roman in the first round there before losing to his brother Francisco Cerundolo in the second.
And here, yet again, Cerundolo was forced to play the qualifiers and won both his rounds.
Jarry might not be the easiest opponent to face but Cerundolo definitely looks to be in a better touch at the moment.
Jarry v Cerundolo Prediction
While Jarry starts out a favourite, we believe Cerundolo won’t be going down in a hurry and might even push his opponent to a third set.
