Elena Rybakina v Moyuka Uchijima Head to Head
Rybakina and Uchijima have never faced off before this.
Rybakina 10-4 for 2025 But Needs a Big Showing
Elena Rybakina has gotten off to good starts at each of the four tournaments she has participated in this year but she would be anything but glad about how things have ended.
At the United Cup, she was beaten by Iga Swiatek in the semifinal. She then went into the Australian Open and did well till the fourth round where Madison Keys edged her out in three sets.
At Abu Dhabi, Rybakina made the semifinal but lost to Belinda Bencic before getting knocked out the Doha Open quarterfinal by Swiatek again.
Rybakina needs a big showing at one of these top tournaments – Grand Slams or a WTA 1000 events – to try and get things rolling back in her favour. For now she is doing enough to maintain her spot in the top 10 but can she hit her career-best ranking of number three again? Or even better that?

Uchijima Stuns Ostapenko
Moyuka Uchijima had participated in six tournaments before this in 2025 and won a main draw round in only one of them – that win coming over Magda Linette at the Australian Open.
For the third tournament in a row, Uchijima was forced to feature in the qualifiers to make the main draw and while she had entered round one she hadn’t gone beyond that at both those competitions – in Abu Dhabi and Doha.
This time around, however, Uchijima took full toll of a thoroughly exhausted Doha Open finalist Jelena Ostapenko and sealed off a rare second round berth with a straight-set win.
The Japanese player, who had begun the 2024 season ranked 199th in the world but has improved to 62nd at the moment made it through with a 6-3, 6-3 victory.
Ostapenko, who had played six matches in seven days before getting a day’s break and featuring here, proved to be no match for Uchijima who broke her five times in the encounter.
Things won’t be the same against Rybakina in this second round match but Uchijima could look to carry the momentum forward here.
Rybakina v Uchijima Prediction
We expect Rybakina to ease to a win but one of the sets could be a lot more trouble for her than the other.
Rybakina v Uchijima Tips
- Rybakina to win in straight sets: 4/9
- Over 18.5 games in the match: 5/6
