Dayana Yastremska v Anastasia Potapova Head to Head
The first time they met was on the ITF circuit way back in 2018 and Yastremska had won the final of that clay court event. They met again earlier this year in Brisbane and Potapova beat Yastremska in the second round.
Yastremska Sends Linette Packing
Dayana Yastremska had proved to be no match for Peyton Stearns in the first round of the WTA Doha last week but came back strongly in her opener here.
Taking on the Polish number three, Yastremska inflicted her with a 6-3, 7-5 defeat to make it to the second round.
In a match that went on for an hour and 46 minutes, Yastresmska broke Linette early in the opening set and while she dropped her serve once after that, she immediately regained control by breaking again.
The second set was a lot closer as both traded breaks in the middle and it was only in the 11th game that Yastremska found a way past her opponent’s serve. She held out in the next game to clinch the win.
This follows a third round appearance at the Australian Open and a finals showing in Linz for the in-form Yastremska.

Potapova in a Haddad Maia Thumping
Anastasia Potapova was coming into this competition on the back of a title win at Cluj-Napoca and a win-loss record of 10-3 for the season.
Beatriz Haddad Maia might not be in the best of form but she is still ranked 16th in the world and Potapova would have known things might not feel as easy as they did two weeks ago when she won that title.
And yet, an hour and 15 minutes into the match, Potapova had crushed any hopes that Haddad Maia might have had from the tournament with a 6-3, 6-0 thumping of her opponent.
Potapova won nine games in a row from 3-3 in the first set, with Haddad Maia winning just two points in her next three service games. In the fourth, she fought hard but Potapova broke her serve for the fourth time in a row to grab a place in the second round.
Yastremska v Potapova Prediction
This could turn out to be a thrilling battle between two players who are playing some excellent tennis and aspiring to break into the top 20. Potapova is an 11/20 favourite and while we back her to win this, it could be a lot closer than those odds suggest.
Yastremska v Potapova Tips
- Potapova to win: 11/20
- Over 20.5 games in the match: 3/4
