Noskova Pulls off a Win over Putintseva
Linda Noskova continued to impress at the highest level by sealing her second round berth in Dubai with a straight-set win over Yulia Putintseva.
In a match lasting less than an hour and a half, Noskova won 6-2, 7-6 (5) to take her season’s win-loss record to 7-5.
Following on from her third round appearance at the WTA Doha last week where Noskova had defeated Donna Vekic and Putintseva before taking Iga Swiatek to three sets, Noskova slammed seven aces and broke Putintseva three times in a repeat performance from the last week.
She had earlier shrugged off a three-match losing streak by making it to the semifinal of the Abu Dhabi Open. There Noskova had registered wins over Magdalena Frech, Paula Badosa and Magda Linette.

Shnaider Shrugs off Doha False Start
Diana Shnaider was a 2/5 favourite going into her opener at the WTA Doha against Alycia Parks but fell in straight sets to her American opponent in what was a surprise loss.
A week onward, Shnaider did enough to ensure she wins her first round match here and do that in style.
Starting out 1/2 against Magdalena Frech, Shnaider gave her opponent no chance and clinched a second round berth with a 6-2, 6-2 win.
In a match that lasted just an hour and 17 minutes, Shnaider saved 11 of the 12 break-points she faced and in turn got the better of her opponent’s serve five times to claim the victory.
She now faces a far tougher second round opponent.
