Marta Kostyuk v Sofia Kenin Head to Head
Kostyuk and Kenin have never faced off in a competitive match before this.
Kostyuk Eases Past Siniakova
After making a slow start to the season, Marta Kostyuk got going at the Australian Open where she made the third round.
More celebrations were in order when she added to that showing last week though, continuing in Doha from where she had left off in Melbourne.
Kostyuk stunned Cori Gauff and overcame Magda Linette on her way to making the quarterfinals of the WTA Doha before it was the eventual champion Amanda Anisimova who got the better of her.
She was back to her best here in her opener against Katerina Siniakova, needing an hour and 19 minutes to win 6-3, 6-4. Kostyuk saved all but one of the seven break-points she faced while breaking her opponent all the three times she got an opportunity.
Can she continue this run against her American opponent in round two?

Kenin Pushes Vekic Out
There was nothing to choose between Sofia Kenin and Donna Vekic when they faced off in the first round here, with both entering the match at around 5/6 odds to claim the second round spot.
But Kenin, who had entered the match on the back of a fighting showing in Doha last week where she defeated Ashlyn Krueger and Alycia Parks, made it through this one in straight sets.
In what turned to be one of Kenin’s best serving matches at this level, she clinched 78% of her first serves and did not face a single break-point in the encounter.
In turn, Kenin overcame her opponent’s serve three times – once in the first set and two more times in the second to win 7-5, 6-3. Kenin needed just over an hour and a half to seal off her first ever second round berth in this competitions in five attempts.
Kostyuk v Kenin Prediction
Kostyuk enters as a 1/2 favourite but Kenin has had a few performances she can look back at this season to feel equally confident. Might see Kenin push Kostyuk hard in this one.
Kostyuk v Kenin Tips
