Joao Fonseca v Alexandre Muller Head to Head
This will be the first meeting between these two players.
Fonseca, the Toast of the Tennis World
Joao Fonseca is just 18 years of age and he already has a legion of fans around the world. One of them seems to be Carlos Alcaraz, who watched him play against and defeat Francisco Cerundolo in the final of the Argentina Open last week.
Alcaraz would later go on to praise Fonseca’s win, calling his level ‘insane’ and said he had a huge potential.
He added: “I saw a stat that in this part of the year last year he was No. 660, and now he is No. 68. So, I’m pretty sure during the year he’s going to get higher.”
That’s exactly where Fonseca is at, having beaten Andrey Rublev at the Australian Open earlier this year, he has gone on to lift his maiden ATP trophy and that was against all odds in a competition played in Argentina in front of hostile crowds.
Now, playing at home, things could get a lot easier for Fonseca.

Muller Struggling Since Hong Kong Win
Alexandre Muller is one of those handful of men’s tennis players to have won a title this year but since lifting the trophy at the Hong Kong Open in the first week of the season, he has done nothing of note.
In fact, Muller has played in three tournaments including one on the Challenger circuit and lost in the first round at each one of them.
Last week, he was a part of the Argentina Open where he had gone into the first round against Laslo Djere as a 6/4 underdog and there was nothing in the way he played that suggested those odds were changing any time soon.
Muller will be making his debut in Brazil here but facing Fonseca first up will make his life that much more difficult.
Fonseca v Muller Prediction
Fonseca can be expected to clinch this in straight sets given his form and while one will have to watch out for the way he goes about his business following an action-packed last week, we are backing him for the win here.
