Jessica Pegula v Linda Noskova Head to Head
Pegula and Noskova have never faced off before this.
Pegula Blanks Samsonova
Not that Jessica Pegula has been out of form but as a world number five she hasn’t been going deep enough into tournaments, especially if she wants to not just remain in the top five but also challenge for the top spot.
She had a first round bye here following her quarterfinal exit at the WTA Qatar, another example of how she missed out on making it all the way in a WTA 1000 competition.
In the second round Pegula faced Liudmilla Samsonova and what she exhibited in the first set was something she would want to look back every time she is looking for inspiration.
Because she just lost four points on her own serve while breaking Samsonova three times to bagel her.
Pegula went 2-0 up in the second set as well but traded breaks with Samsonova twice taking them to 4-4. She then got the better of her opponent’s serve in the ninth game for the sixth time in the match and this time around, Samsonova had no answers, leaving her opponent a 6-0, 6-4 winner.

Noskova Sends Shanider Away in a Thriller
This could have gone either way and in the end, Linda Noskova dug deep to clinch a three-set win in two hours and 17 minutes.
Having entered the match following a straight-set win over Yulia Putintseva, Noskova was in a battle very early when she down a break on two occasions in the first set.
While Noskova managed to take the set into a tie-breaker, she then faced three set-points. She saved them all before taking the lead off the first opportunity she got.
Shnaider wasn’t giving up that easily as she broke twice in the second set and when she went 2-0 up in the decider it looked like Noskova had run out of fuel.
Not quite as Noskova earned the levelling break before breaking the second time in the eighth game and then served it out to clinch the win.
Pegula v Noskova Prediction
Noskova is 8-5 for the season and in form but we think Pegula could prove to be too strong for her, winning in two tight sets.
Pegula v Noskova Tips
- Pegula to win: 7/10
