Elena Rybakina v Paula Badosa Head to Head
There have been six matches played between these two before this in main draws of tournaments and it’s 3-3 on head to head. One other match, their first ever, was played in the qualifiers of the WTA Moscow of 2018 which Badosa had won.
In hardcourt competitions, it’s 2-1 in favour of Rybakina with the Kazakh having beaten Badosa in their last two meetings too – at the 2023 Indian Wells and Miami Open.
Rybakina Breezes Past Uchijima
Elena Rybakina has had her issues during the season but all of the matches she has lost have come against some of the best of the season. Two of those losses came at the hands of Iga Swiatek, one to Belinda Bencic and another to Madison Keys, the Australian Open winner.
Against the lesser-ranked players, Rybakina has had no worries. Like was the case in the second round against Moyuka Uchijima.
In a match that lasted a mere 66 minutes, Rybakina hammered out a 6-3, 6-2 victory to advance to the third round. She faced just two break-points and saved both with her first serve figures of 81% pulling out of any semblance of trouble she might have faced.
In turn she got the better of Uchijima’s serve on three occasions to grab the win.
Things could get slightly tougher for her now.

Badosa Has No Trouble Against Mertens
Elise Mertens is no pushover, having come into the tournament on the back of a title win and another finals appearance. In fact that is why Paula Badosa was a whopping 8/11 odds to win the encounter.
What actually transpired resulted in a straightforward victory for Badosa, who was on court for just 65 minutes to dispatch her opponent 6-2, 6-1.
Badosa’s first serve was her saviour too with 87% of those points and she faced – and saved – the solitary break-point she did face in the encounter.
In her earlier match, Badosa had clinched another straight-set win over Lulu Sun and these two victories are now the first set of wins for the Spaniard in the same tournament other than her semifinal appearance at the Australian Open.
Rybakina v Badosa Prediction
This could turn out to be a close one to call but if Rybakina continues to remain fully fit we think she has enough in her game to edge past Badosa here. Probably in three sets too.
Rybakina v Badosa Tips
- Rybakina to win: 8/11
- Three sets in the match: 6/5
