Andrey Rublev v Nuno Borges Head to Head
They have faced off once before with Rublev winning that encounter last year in Basel in straight sets.
Rublev Eases Past Bublik
Andrey Rublev has had his troubles this season but over the last couple of tournaments – at Montpellier and Rotterdam – he has shown signs of returning to where he would like to be.
Quarterfinal appearances at both those tournaments is far better a result than was on display in his first two appearances of the season but Rublev would have liked to do better than that.
He has started off reasonably well here again, defeating Alexander Bublik 6-3, 6-4 to win his opener. The match took an hour and 12 minutes with Rublev getting broken just once in the entire match.
That came in the second set after he had gone 2-0 up but the Russian broke right back and went on to clinch the win. He now faces an in-form Nuno Borges.

Borges Makes it 9-5 for the Season
Nuno Borges continued to impress as he registered his nine victory of the season to go with just five defeats. This came in the first round of the ATP Doha where he defeated Otto Virtanen in straight sets to join Rublev in round two.
Having come into the tournament on the back of a semifinal appearance at the Auckland Open following which he made the third round at the Australian Open last month, Borges was forced into a corner in the first set when he faced four set-points in the tie-breaker.
He came back from being 2-6 down in it to win it 8-6, sweeping through the next six points.
That was a difficult pill to swallow for Virtanen who got broken early in the second set and from that point onward, it was all one-way traffic in favour of Borges. An hour and 23 minutes later he had completed the win.
Rublev v Borges Prediction
Rublev might start a favourite here with bookmakers offering 1/2 for that but we think this could get close and Borges might come close to upsetting him here.
Rublev v Borges Tips
- Borges to win a set – Yes: 8/11
