Nicolas Jarry v Francisco Comesana Head to Head
Jarry and Comesana have never faced off before this.
Jarry in a Comeback Win over JM Cerundolo
Despite being a 2/5 favourite and one of the better players on clay in the world right now, Nicolas Jarry was forced into a three-set encounter with Juan Manuel Cerundolo before he could make it through.
Jarry, who had earlier lost in the first round of the Argentina Open to Diego Schwartzman last week, came back from being a set down to win 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 to make the second round. The match lasted two hours and 27 minutes.
A winner of three ATP titles in his career, all of which came on clay, Jarry has fallen off the rails a tad, having slid down from his career-best of 16th to his current 47th in the world.
And it looked like things could get worse for him when he lost the first set and then got broken in the very first game of the second.
From that point onward, however, Jarry pressed hard to make a comeback and found a way to make it through.

Comesana Edges Out Heide
Much like Jarry, Francisco Comesana had also lost his first round match in Buenos Aires last week. And here, like Jarry again, he was forced to feature in a three-setter against Gustavo Heide before making it through to his first main draw win of the season.
Comesana was on court for a whopping three hours and 23 minutes to find a way past the 162nd-ranked Heide and seal his second round berth.
Where Comesana found the going tough was his inability to convert the break-points into games won – he earned himself a rather extravagant 18 such opportunities but missed on 16 of them.
Interestingly, both the breaks that he finally got came in the third set in which he was down a break to begin with before getting past Heide’s serve twice in a row.
Can he now show the same kind of resilience against Jarry?
